Stamp Act
- Colonists were being controlled by the British
- They were being taxed on everything that was printed on paper
- The act passed by the british parliament was called the Stamp Act
- The tax was 3 pence
- This tax later resulted in the profession involving tax collectors being greatly hated
- The tax was on papers, magazines, documents, ect..
- The money collected from the tax was used to "help pay the costs of defending and protecting the American frontier near the Appalachian Mountains (10,000 troops were to be stationed on the American frontier for this purpose)" (history.org).

Sugar Act
- Also passed by the British parliament, "in April 5, 1764" (us history.org), was the Sugar Act
- Even though it was created by the British, it hurt the British West Indies Market
- The Sugar Act reduced the tax payment - Used to be 6 pence and was now 3 pence per gallon
- This tax not only put payment on molasses, but also put payment on "sugar, certain wines, coffee, pimiento, cambric and printed calico, and futher, regulated the export of lumber and iron" (us history.org).
- The Sugar Act led to the fall of the rum industries
- This act not only angered the colonists more, along with the Stamp Act, it led to them repealing the Stamp Act

Repeal of the Stamp Act
- There were protests and rebellion against the Stamp Act
- Colonists would refuse to purchase british goods
- Used the motto "taxation without representation"
- The British parliament ended up repealing the Stamp Act

Intolerable Acts
- A collection of laws passed by the British parliament in 1774
- Aimed towards the colonists as punishment
- Was a form of punishment to the bostonians because of the Boston Tea Party
- Another part of the Intolerable Acts was "seen as an additional threat to the liberty and expansion of the colonies" (landofthebrave.info)
- The Intolerable Acts threatened the independence of colonies
- This act gave the British an abundance of power.
